What’s Lighting Me Up (May 24, 2025)

Another week has past and I’m another year older, so it’s time for another quick look at what’s been lighting me up this week.

As I mentioned, I had a birthday this week. My birthday generally falls on the long weekend that marks the cultural start of Summer here in Canada, which means it’s normally impossible for me to get together with friends on or around the big day. But in a nice surprise, I was able to get a handful of people together this year for a spontaneous gathering, which was lovely. The day itself was nice and expansive, with lots of chats and well-wishes from friends and family, and amazing weather to boot.

It’s been a good week for my renewed exercise and food-related habits (though I did loosen things up for my birthday). The differences I notice for my energy levels when I’m in good routines is really remarkable!

It was a wonderful reading week, with highlights being:

  • Wolf Hollow, by Lauren Wolk (2016) (Middle Grade historical coming of age)
  • The Shots You Take, by Rachel Reid (2025 🇨🇦) (M/M Romance)
  • My Friends, by Fredrik Backman (2025) (General fiction)
  • Hey Nostradamus!, by Douglas Coupland (2004 🇨🇦) (General fiction)

May has still continued to disappoint with its new musical releases, with Damiano David’s FUNNY little FEARS remaining at the top of my new release listening.

These are a few of the things that have been keeping me going and brightening up my way this week. So what’s lighting you up?

  1. Happy Birthday! God grant you many more years! Thank you for your writing and presence. It has been very helpful during the past several years and continues to be so. I hope things continue to go well for you!
