In August 2025 I had an opportunity to tour the North of England for a week. While some of the sights were intentionally pilgrimages, I was surprised that the whole trip felt like a pilgrimage. And so, upon my return, I wrote a short series reflecting on the experience of the trip:
- Thoughts on a Pilgrimage (of sorts)
- From A to B to C to D (or Best Laid Plans) (from Toronto to York)
- Encountering the Holy (from York to Durham)
- In the Footsteps of the Ancients (from Durham to Lindisfarne)
- Borderlands (Bamburgh and Hadrian’s Wall)
- The Heavy Hand of Time (Ruins in Northumberland and Cumbria)
- Legacy
- Take Me to the Lakes (the Lake District)
- Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes (Manchester)
