I’m taking a bit of a Summer break from writing but wanted to share some existing resources on the blog that relate to today’s spitfire of an Epistle reading, Romans 8.12-25. The text, which is right in the heart of one of the meatiest sections of the whole New Testament, deals with a number of important themes, upon which I’ve already touched in the history of the blog. They include:
Spiritual Indebtedness (”we are debtors …”)
Spiritual Dichotomies (“we are debtors, not to the flesh … but [to] the Spirit”)
“The Flesh”
Slavery and Freedom (”for you did not receive a spirit of slavery …”)
Adoption (”you have received a spirit of adoption”)
Suffering and Glorification with Christ (”if .. we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.”)
Creation Longing for Salvation (”For the creation waits with eager longing …”)
Hope
