What’s Lighting Me Up (June 7, 2025)

Another week has flown by in this year that’s just disappearing. (How was it that January felt like it lasted three months and the rest of it has just evaporated?!) But, in the interest of slowing down and looking around, it’s time for another look at what’s been lighting me up this week.

It’s been another steady week for me. Exercise, food, health, and work have all been just fine. So, once again, steady on!

Since my main blog series right now is revisiting an old series and so doesn’t take a lot of work, I’ve started in on the research and reading for the next series. While I’m going to hold off on saying what that will be for the time being, it’s had a great side effect of revitalizing my spiritual reading, introducing me to a new side of an author I’ve really enjoyed before. (More to come!)

Speaking of reading, it’s otherwise been an uninspiring reading week. I only finished three books this week (which I know is a lot for most people!) and only one of those was good. Fortunately, that one win was a HUGE one, Pat Barker’s The Women of Troy (2021), the second book in her trilogy of Trojan War retellings.

Amidst all the (rightful!) noise last week about Taylor Swift purchasing her old music catalog, Miley Cyrus released a very strong, if strange (it is Miley after all) album; if you haven’t given Something Beautiful a listen, it’s worth it.

These are a few of the things that have been keeping me going and brightening up my way this week. So what’s lighting you up?
