It’s that time of the week again to see what’s been been lighting me up and lighting my way this week.
Fingers crossed and knock on wood, but it’s been a pretty quiet week for me overall. Once again, my time hanging out with some of the great saints of the Christian tradition has been a tremendous source of joy and inspiration for me. This week, my focus has been significantly on St. Francis of Assisi and two of his disciples, St. Clare and St. Bonaventure. I’ve always held St. Francis at a bit of a distance, I think probably because he’s just so popular and he’s been interpreted and reinterpreted so many times. It was wonderful then to spend some intentional time with him and I have to say that now I totally get what all the fuss is about!
I’m also very pleased to report that my bad reading luck snapped this week and I read a few really wonderful books, including two that could make my year-end favourites list, Dolly Alderton’s Ghosts (2020) and Liz Moore’s The Unseen World (2016). In what’s been a disappointing reading year to date, it was fantastic to have two brilliant experiences in just a few days!
Those are a few of the things that have been keeping me going and brightening up my way this week. So what’s lighting you up?
